I live on a farm near Mount Cook in the South Island of NZ, with my husband and three children – aged 10, 8 and 5 years. Life is hectic, but I love it that way!
I have a Bachelor of Physical Education majoring in Exercise Prescription and Management and a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology. I gained these while having a lot of fun at Otago Uni. I am a keen sportsperson, having spent many seasons on the netball and basketball courts and recently turning my hand to golf! I also have over 10 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry (from Smoking Cessation to Mobile Personal Training and Nutrition Education in Schools).
In July 2016 I set up ‘Kate Ivey – Fitness, Health and Inspiration’ because I wanted to help busy Kiwi women like myself to lead positive, healthy, fitness filled lives! Never did I expect to be able to help so many, and some men along the way! It is a dream come true – I struggle to call this my job because I love it so much!
My own journey is also what drives me to inspire others. During changes in my life such as starting university, travelling and of course having children, I struggled to prioritise my health and fitness. This lead to feelings of dissatisfaction, weight gain and low self-confidence.
Through all my pregnancies I gained 25-30kg (a lot of which was due to unnecessary over eating and lack of exercise), then worked really hard after each to get myself back exercising and nourishing my body. I know how hard it is. I also know it can be done, and I know how to do it! It feels great to be fit and healthy, and helping busy women to see that despite all their commitments, they too can achieve their health and fitness goals, is so incredibly rewarding.
So this is why I created DediKate. My own experiences have influenced me to motivate and encourage others!
DediKate is for all busy people – young or old, city or country and fit or still sedentary. From workouts for new Mums, those beginning their fitness journey or returning from injury, to advanced level weights and HIIT workouts – as well as yoga, pilates, stretching and nutrition! What ever you are looking for, DediKate most probably has you covered!
All workouts are effectively designed for getting fit, losing fat and gaining lean muscle, but without having to spend too much time. All the workouts are new each week so you never get bored or reach plateau, with the option of doing many live with us from your place! The recipes are easy to make and the advice and expertise is real and all focused on long term and long lasting results.
